No shocking result in a game in Reykjavik where third ranked Valur (13-4) smashed bottom-ranked KR (2-15) 90-71 on Thursday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 54-33 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The former international forward Kristofer Acox (198-1993, college: Furman) stepped up and scored 24 points and 8 rebounds (on 12-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners and the former international guard Kari Jonsson (192-1997, college: Drexel) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Five Valur players scored in double figures. Valur's coach Finnur Stefansson used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Lithuanian Justas Tamulis (196-1994) responded with 21 points and point guard Veigar Hlynsson (196-2001) scored 18 points and 8 rebounds. Defending champion moved-up to second place. KR lost their fourth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Valur will meet Hottur (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. KR will play against Keflavik (#3) and hope to secure a win.
