Regular Season Round 15: Vera - Delta 80-117

There was no surprise in Tbilisi where 11th ranked Vera (2-12) was crushed by seventh ranked Delta (6-8) 117-80 on Thursday. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 45-5 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Delta dominated on the defensive end, holding Vera to just 5 points in third quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Vera's 40. They outrebounded Vera 53-28 including a 35-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Delta looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. It was a great evening for the former international center Gegi Baqradze (206-1994) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field). The former international point guard Otar Pkhakadze (188-1993, college: Simpson, CA) helped adding 18 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Delta's coach Irakli Dzidziguri felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Kaiden Rice (201, college: Georgetown) with 30 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international guard Luka Zakradze (193-1996) scored 23 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Five Delta and four Vera players scored in double figures. Delta maintains seventh place with 6-8 record. Vera lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Delta will meet at home Mega (#9) in the next round. Vera will play against Kutaisi and hope to secure a win.
