The game between closely ranked teams ended with 8th ranked Kouvottaret's (7-13) home loss to seventh ranked Vimpelin Veto (11-10) 61-77 on Friday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Alex Wittinger (185-1997, college: Illinois) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 17 rebounds and power forward Kristina King (190-1995, college: WVU) who added 19 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four Vimpelin Veto players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Nikki McDonald (183-1996, college: Georgia South) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds and swingman Tierra Hodges (175-1998, college: Furman) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Vimpelin Veto have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Honka. Kouvottaret at the other side keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost. Vimpelin Veto will meet at home Marsky Helsinki (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Kouvottaret will play against Catz Lappeenranta and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
