Regular Season Round 21: Hrunamenn - Armann 93-83

Rather predictable result in Fludir where seventh ranked Hrunamenn (9-12) beat 9th ranked Armann (5-10) 93-83 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 48-36 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Hrunamenn dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Armann's 44. American forward Ahmad Gilbert (200-1996, college: St.Thomas, FL) stepped up and scored 37 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds for the winners and American-Hungarian forward Sam Burt (201-1994, college: FPU) chipped in 23 points and 12 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Burt is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was forward Illugi Steingrimsson (192-1996) with 16 points and 8 rebounds and American center William Thompson (203-1993, college: Felician) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Four Armann players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hrunamenn moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Fjolnir. Armann lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. Hrunamenn will meet Fjolnir (#6) in the next round. Armann's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Reykjavik Alftanes.
