An interesting game for Grodno (16-5) which hosted in Grodno one of their biggest challengers Rubon (13-9). Second ranked Grodno had an easy win 90-73. Grodno dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Rubon's 32. They outrebounded Rubon 43-32 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Grodno looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Rubon's players. The former international forward Aliaksandr Pustahvar (201-1985) notched 20 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists to lead the effort and Ilya Sharipov (198-1991) supported him with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Grodno's coach Dzmitry Kuzmin used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 15 points and 5 rebounds by guard Anton Shchurko (188-1997) did not help to save the game for Rubon. Ukrainian point guard Ernesto Tkachuk (190-1994, agency: BIG) added 13 points and 6 assists for lost side. Four Rubon players scored in double figures. Grodno have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 16-5 record behind leader Tsmoki-Minsk U20. Loser Rubon keeps the third place with nine games lost. Grodno will meet Gomel (#6) on the road in the next round. Rubon will play against Impuls BGUIR and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
