Everything went according to plan when ninth ranked Gipuzkoa (12-9) outleveled on the road 15th ranked Albacete (5-16) 79-56 on Saturday. They outrebounded Albacete 42-31 including a 38-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gipuzkoa shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American guard Justin Jaworski (190-1999, college: Lafayette) stepped up and scored 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and guard Xavi Oroz (192-1996) chipped in 2 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists. The best for the losing side was point guard Guillem Ferrando (186-2002) with 13 points and 4 assists and swingman Victor Ruiz (200-1995, college: Academy of Art, agency: Promo Sport ID) scored 5 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gipuzkoa maintains ninth place with 12-9 record. Newly promoted Albacete keeps the fifteenth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Oviedo and Iraurgi SB. Gipuzkoa will meet at home Caceres (#14) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Albacete will play against Castello in Castellon and hope to secure a win.
