Second Stage Round 6: Kauhajoki - Kouvot 92-75

An interesting game for Kauhajoki (22-5) which hosted in Kauhajoki 4th ranked Kouvot (14-14). First ranked Kauhajoki had an easy win 92-75. It looked good early as Kouvot took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Kauhajoki had a 20-13 second period charge getting the lead and Kouvot was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 75-92. They outrebounded Kouvot 45-34 including 16 on the offensive glass. Kauhajoki players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Kouvot's players. American forward Simeon Carter (203-1996, college: Georgia South) scored 22 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Cameron Jones (193-1989, college: NAU, agency: BIG) chipped in 20 points during the contest. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Kauhajoki's coach Janne Koskimies allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Austin Butler (196, college: Charlotte) with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Joel Mantynen (199-2002, agency: Blacktop Management) scored 15 points. Defending champion maintains first position with 22-5 record. Kouvot at the other side keeps the fourth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Vilpas. Kauhajoki will play against Kataja (#3) in Joensuu in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Kouvot will play at home against the league's second-placed Seagulls and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
