Regular Season Round 18: Ura Basket - Korinokia 102-65

Very predictable result when sixth ranked Ura Basket (11-7) rolled over bottom-ranked Korinokia (5-13) in Kaarina 102-65 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 66-27 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Ura Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Korinokia's 36. Ura Basket forced 19 Korinokia turnovers and outrebounded them 53-41 including 16 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Guard Anton Kankaanpaa (196, college: S.Nazarene) notched 18 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Emil Komusaari (188-2000) supported him with 17 points and 4 assists. Ura Basket's coach Arttu Mannelin felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 18 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists by American forward Ryan Batte (198, college: Thomas More) did not help to save the game for Korinokia. Forward Ville-Matti Niskanen (193-2007) added 12 points and 5 rebounds. Ura Basket moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Pantterit and HyPo. Korinokia lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the bottom position with 13 games lost. They share it with Karkkila. Ura Basket will meet league's second-placed PuHu Juniorit in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Korinokia will play against Kataja Ta. (#8) and hope to secure a win.
