There was no surprise in San Cristobal where 16th ranked Tenerife (2-20) was outplayed by third ranked Avenida (17-5) 76-46 on Sunday. Avenida dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Tenerife's 20. The best player for the winners was Canadian forward Bridget Carleton (185-1997, college: Iowa St.) who scored 13 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Latvian forward Aleksa Gulbe (190-2000, college: Indiana) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Kai James (196-1995, college: FSU) who recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and Hungarian Krisztina Raksanyi (183-1991) added 8 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Avenida have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains third place with 17-5 record behind leader Girona. Tenerife lost ninth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 20 lost games. Avenida will meet at home league's leader Girona in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tenerife will play against Barca CBS (#8) and hope to secure a win.
