Regular Season Round 20: La Roda - Ponferrada 113-111

The most exciting game of round 20 in the LEB Silver took place in La Roda. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked Ponferrada (9-11) to eighth ranked La Roda (10-10) 113-111 on Sunday evening. It was a great shooting night for La Roda especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. 24 personal fouls committed by Ponferrada helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Jamaican guard Jahvaughn Powell (183-1996, college: Nicholls St., agency: Helping Ballers) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and Dominican Jhery Matos (196-1996, college: Charlotte) who added 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Senegalese forward Omar Lo (206-1997, college: CBU) responded with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 12 rebounds (on 14-of-16 shooting from the field) and guard Alejandro Jorda (193-1995, college: Cuesta JC) scored 23 points and 4 assists. Five La Roda and four Ponferrada players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. La Roda moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Zamora. Ponferrada lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Gran Canaria 2 and Melilla. La Roda is looking forward to face higher ranked Navarra (#4) in Pamplona in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Ponferrada will play at home against Baskonia B (#14) and is hoping to win this game.
