Regular Season Round 18: Kataja Ta. - LrNMKY 67-72

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Kataja Ta. (10-8) lost to tenth ranked LrNMKY (8-10) in Joensuu 67-72 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Kataja Ta. won third quarter 22-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. LrNMKY forced 21 Kataja Ta. turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American point guard Aubrey Conerly (183-1983, college: Jacksonville) notched a double-double by scoring 11 points, 5 rebounds, 10 assists and 6 steals to lead the effort and the other American import Vernon Payne (203, college: IU Southeast) supported him with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Four LrNMKY players scored in double figures. LrNMKY's coach Aubrey Conerly used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Even a double-double of 30 points and 13 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) by American forward Camron Reece (201, college: Talladega) did not help to save the game for Kataja Ta.. German Robin Danes (197-2001) added 16 points and 11 rebounds. LrNMKY have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to ninth place. Loser Kataja Ta. keeps the seventh position with eight games lost. They share it with Raholan P.. LrNMKY will meet at home Pyrinto Ak.B (#10) in the next round. Kataja Ta. will play against Korinokia in Nokia and hope to secure a win.
