Regular Season Round 8: Riga/Ridzene - East Ball 50-67

One of the most interesting games of round 8 was a derby match between two teams from Latvia. Fourteenth ranked East Ball won against host Riga/Ridzene (0-7) 67-50. The game without a history. East Ball led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. East Ball forced 21 Riga/Ridzene turnovers. The winners were led by forward Raitis Spels (196-2006) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and Andris Veips supported him with 13 points and 5 rebounds. Four East Ball players scored in double figures. Even 12 points and 7 rebounds by Kristaps Gothards (-2007) did not help to save the game for Riga/Ridzene. Eduards Podrezs (-2007) added 12 points and 9 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. East Ball (4-6) moved-up to ninth place. Loser Riga/Ridzene still closes the standings with seven games lost.
