Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Lucca (4-15) was outplayed on the road by third ranked Venezia (17-3) 86-45 on Sunday. Venezia dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Lucca's 28. They outrebounded Lucca 52-25 including a 40-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Jessica Shepard (193-1996, college: Notre Dame) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 16 rebounds and Finnish-Egyptian center Awak Kuier (196-2001) who added 21 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four Venezia players scored in double figures. Dutch forward Kourtney Treffers (187-1994, agency: LBM Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds and the former international guard Giulia Natali (177-2002, agency: LBM Management) scored 7 points. Lucca's coach Luca Andreoli already knew that her team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Venezia have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 17-3 record having four points less than leader Schio. Lucca at the other side keeps the twelfth place with 15 games lost. Venezia will meet Valdarno (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lucca will play against San Giovanni and hope to secure a win.
