Regular Season Round 20: Haukar - Njardvik 76-73

Fourth-ranked Njardvik (11-9) gave a tough game to third ranked Haukar (16-4) in Hafnarfjordur on Sunday. Haukar managed to secure only three-point victory 76-73. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Njardvik. Njardvik was trailing by 11 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 24-20 charge of Haukar, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Keira Robinson (170-1994, college: VCU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals and the former international guard Tinna Alexandersdottir (177-2003) who added 16 points during the contest. American guard Aliyah Collier (183-1997, college: Clemson) responded with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 16 rebounds and 4 assists and Portuguese point guard Raquel Laniero (171-2000) scored 20 points and 4 assists. Haukar have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 16-4 record having just two points less than leader Keflavik. Defending champion Njardvik keeps the fourth place with nine games lost. Haukar are looking forward to face Breidablik (#7) in Kopavogur in the next round. Njardvik will play at home against the league's second-placed Valur and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
