Regular Season Round 20: Keflavik - Grindavik 84-61

Subway League top team - Keflavik (18-2) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed fifth ranked Grindavik (8-12) 84-61. The game was mostly controlled by Keflavik. Grindavik managed to win second period 26-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Keflavik forced 19 Grindavik turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was Venezuelan Daniela Wallen (179-1995, college: Okla City) who had a triple-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds, 12 assists and 4 steals. The former international forward Birna Benonysdottir (187-2000, college: Binghamton) chipped in 18 points. American guard Danielle Rodriguez (177-1993, college: Utah) produced 19 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and Slovenian forward Elma Dautovic (187-2001, agency: Interperformances) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Keflavik maintains first position with 18-2 record. Grindavik lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 12 games lost. Keflavik will meet Fjolnir (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Grindavik will play against IR and hope to secure a win.
