Regular Season Round 21: Thor AK - Hrunamenn 85-89

Everything went according to plan in Akureyri where seventh ranked Hrunamenn (9-12) won against bottom-ranked Thor AK (1-20) 89-85 on Monday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Thor AK won third quarter 26-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hrunamenn looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Ahmad Gilbert (200-1996, college: St.Thomas, FL) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 19 rebounds, 9 assists and 6 steals for the winners and American-Hungarian forward Sam Burt (201-1994, college: FPU) chipped in 20 points and 10 rebounds. Burt is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was Croatian power forward Toni Cutuk (208-1999) with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 12 rebounds and guard Smari Jonsson (179-2001) scored 20 points and 7 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hrunamenn moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Fjolnir. Thor AK lost their ninth game in a row. They stay dead last with 20 lost games. Hrunamenn will meet Fjolnir (#6) in the next round. Thor AK will play against Skallagrimur (#4) in Borganes and hope to win that game.
