Regular Season Round 20: Mataro UE - Almozara 86-49

There was no surprise when 13th ranked Almozara (3-16) was crushed on the road by second ranked Mataro UE (16-3) 86-49 on Saturday. Mataro UE dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Almozara's 28. They outrebounded Almozara 50-36 including 37 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Gambian forward Omaru Toure (199-1994) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 19 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) and forward Jordi Juanola (196-1998) who added 24 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Point guard Alberto Pedros (192-1999) responded with 15 points and Venezuelan center Wilmer Peraza (194-1990) scored 7 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Mataro UE maintains second position with 16-3 record behind leader Huelva CD. Almozara lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with 16 games lost. They share the position with Jovens and Valladolid. Mataro UE will meet Sol Girones (#4) in the next round. Almozara will play against Castelldefels (#8) and hope to secure a win.
