Rather expected game when 9th ranked Marsky Helsinki (6-16) lost on the road to seventh ranked Vimpelin Veto (12-11) 79-65 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Vimpelin Veto. Marsky Helsinki managed to win fourth quarter 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vimpelin Veto dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Marsky Helsinki's 34. American forward Alex Wittinger (185-1997, college: Illinois) nailed a double-double by scoring 17 points and 20 rebounds for the winning side and her fellow American import power forward Kristina King (190-1995, college: WVU) accounted for 25 points and 7 rebounds. International guard Elina Aarnisalo (177-2005) came up with 23 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and the former international guard Kati Ollilainen (173-2003) added 19 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Marsky Helsinki in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vimpelin Veto maintains seventh place with 12-11 record. Loser Marsky Helsinki keeps the ninth position with 16 games lost. Vimpelin Veto will meet bottom-ranked Catz Lappeenranta (#10) on the road in the next round. Marsky Helsinki will play against Kouvottaret and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
