There was no surprise when 10th ranked Alpo (7-13) was defeated on the road by third ranked Costa Masnaga (17-3) 84-74 on Saturday. Costa Masnaga dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Alpo's 32. Costa Masnaga had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was German forward Patricia Brossmann (183-1997, college: San Diego) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds. Naturalized Argentinian Gisel Villarruel (175-1994) chipped in 14 points. Costa Masnaga's coach Paolo Seletti used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Elisa Mancinelli (177-1993) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and guard Anna Turel (174-2002) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Costa Masnaga have an impressive 12-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 17-3 record having just one victory less than leader Milano. Loser Alpo dropped to the ninth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams.
