Regular Season Round 20: Ponzano - Treviso 61-54

There was an upset in Veneto where higher ranked Treviso (9-11) was defeated by thirteenth ranked Ponzano (5-15) 61-54 on Saturday. Ponzano outrebounded Treviso 45-31 including a 38-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was forward Claudia Gobbo (180-1998) who scored 9 points and 11 rebounds. Swedish swingman Amanda Tivenius (182-1996, college: CS Fullerton) chipped in 7 points and 13 rebounds. Naturalized Argentinian swingman Macarena Rosset (178-1991) produced 11 points and Cecilia Zagni (180-1995) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ponzano moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Vigarano. Treviso lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Carugate and Mantova. Ponzano will meet higher ranked Mantova (#6) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Treviso will play against Carugate and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
