There was an upset when top-ranked Almeria (15-5) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Jaen (10-8) 89-81 on Saturday. Jaen made 18-of-19 free shots (94.7 percent) during the game. Jaen outrebounded Almeria 46-25 including a 23-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Ivan Casas (185-2003) who helped to win the game recording 26 points (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!) and point guard Dani Munoz (190-1987) who added 19 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. American swingman Edwin Cole (203, college: Frostburg St.) responded with 24 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Luis Rueda (186-1996) scored 17 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Jaen maintains sixth position with 10-8 record, which they share with Zentro Basket and Infante. Loser Almeria still keeps top place with five games lost. They share the position with Puerto Sagunto. Jaen will meet Murgi (#10) on the road in the next round. Almeria will play against the league's second-placed El Pinar (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
