There was no surprise when 9th ranked Estepona (10-14) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Joventut (15-7) 77-61 on Saturday. Joventut outrebounded Estepona 44-33 including 31 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was forward Gala Mestres (185-1994, college: Mount Royal) who scored 22 points and 7 rebounds. American-Dominican guard Dominique Toussaint (175-1998, college: Virginia) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. Five Joventut players scored in double figures. Joventut's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Montenegrin center Ana Pocek (190-1993) who recorded 17 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and American point guard Tiffany Brown (168-1986, college: Georgia South) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Joventut maintains fifth position with 15-7 record. Loser Estepona dropped to the tenth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Lima-Horta. Joventut will meet at home Adareva (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Estepona will play against Real Canoe in Madrid and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
