There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Aranguren (6-13) outleveled at home higher ranked Almeda (10-10) 67-40 on Saturday. Aranguren held Almeda to an opponent 19.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 39.7 percent accuracy of the winners. Aranguren forced 22 Almeda turnovers and outrebounded them 45-21 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Argentinian forward Maria Lineira (182-1983) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 10 points and 15 rebounds and forward Beatriz Royo (176-1991, agency: Promo Sport ID) who added 21 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Aranguren players scored in double figures. Alba Barneda (-2003) responded with 7 points and 5 rebounds and Carlota Diaz-Guerra (-2003) scored 10 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Aranguren have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Sevilla. Loser Almeda keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Aranguren will meet higher ranked Lleida (#8) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Almeda will play against the league's leader Castello and will have a slim chance for a victory.
