Regular Season Round 20: Trieste - Milano 36-72
Date: February 25, 2023
Serie A2 top team - Milano (18-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed ninth ranked Trieste (7-13) 72-36. Milano held Trieste to an opponent 19.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 46.8 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Trieste 44-31 including a 37-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by naturalized Brazilian swingman Tayara Madonna (170-1991) who scored that evening 14 points and 5 rebounds and guard Elisabetta Penz (170-1996) supported her with 11 points and 6 rebounds. Four Milano players scored in double figures. Even 7 points and 8 rebounds by power forward Costanza Miccoli (181-1995) did not help to save the game for Trieste. Guard Giorgia Sammartini (175-2001) added 9 points for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Milano have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 18-1 record. Newly promoted Trieste keeps the ninth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Milano will play against Bolzano BC (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Trieste will play against Udine and hopes to get back on the winning track.
