There was no surprise in Santiago de Compostela where 6th ranked Obradoiro S. (11-8) was defeated by third ranked Marin (15-4) 68-59 on Sunday. Marin made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Dutch forward Kevin van Wijk (203-1989, college: Valpo) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and Alvaro Filgueira (195-1997) who added 18 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Swingman Nilo Barreiro (192-1995) responded with 14 points and 8 rebounds and forward Guillermo Gonzalez (196-2002) scored 13 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Marin have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Molina and Gijon. Loser Obradoiro S. dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Marin will meet at home Porrino (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Obradoiro S. will play against Betanzos (#11) and hope to secure a win.
