There was an upset in Rishon Le-Zion where higher ranked Maccabi Rishon (14-8) was defeated by ninth ranked Ramat Hash. (11-11) 85-78 on Friday. The game was dominated by American players. Point guard Diante Watkins (175-1990, college: RMU) scored 22 points and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Tyler Wideman (203-1995, college: Butler) chipped in 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks during the contest. Five Ramat Hash. players scored in double figures. At the losing side point guard Jawun Evans (185-1996, college: OK State) responded with 24 points and 8 assists and forward Cody Riley (206-1997, college: UCLA) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Maccabi Rishon's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ramat Hash. have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with M.Ma'ale Adum. Loser Maccabi Rishon dropped to the third position with eight games lost. They share it with E.Ashkelon. Ramat Hash. will meet league's leader H.Afula on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Maccabi Rishon will play against M.Ma'ale Adum. and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the Winner League just one year after relegation.
