There was no surprise when 12th ranked Cerdanyola (6-15) was outleveled by second ranked Segle XXI (16-5) in Barcelona 73-41 on Saturday. Segle XXI held Cerdanyola to an opponent 22.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 43.3 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Cerdanyola 43-32 including 31 on the defensive glass. Cristina Sanchez nailed 9 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and center Marina Mata (187-2005) accounted for 15 points. Segle XXI's coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Scottish Ruth Allison (177-2000) came up with 17 points and 7 rebounds and Iona Garcia added 11 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Cerdanyola in the defeat. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Segle XXI. They maintain second place with 16-5 record having just two point less than leader CD Talent. Cerdanyola lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth position with 15 games lost. Segle XXI's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Barcelona to the arena Maresme.
