There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Giannena (7-15) beat at home 7th ranked Chania (10-12) 89-84 on Saturday. Giannena looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Forward Konstantina Sarigiannidou (180-1990) notched 17 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and Cameroonian forward Marina Ewodo (188-1998, college: UC Riverside) supported her with 18 points and 5 assists. Five Giannena players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 32 points and 12 rebounds by American center Ciera Johnson (190-1997, college: Texas A&M) did not help to save the game for Chania. Brazilian-Lebanese point guard Rebecca Akl (170-1992) added 25 points and 6 assists (made all of her eight free throws) for lost side. Giannena maintains ninth position with 7-15 record. Chania at the other side keeps the seventh place with 12 games lost.
