There was no surprise when 8th ranked Handlova (5-19) was crushed at home by sixth ranked Lucenec (11-13) 112-83 on Saturday. Lucenec dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Handlova's 48. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Tyrik Armstrong (178, college: Texas Southern, agency: MSG) who helped to win the game recording 30 points and 4 assists and the other American import forward Taren Valdis Sullivan (198-1995, college: Findlay, OH) who added 21 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Lucenec players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American swingman Elizjah Scott (198-1999, college: LMU) with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and Richard Rozanek (193-1999) scored 24 points and 4 assists. Lucenec maintains sixth position with 11-13 record. Handlova lost ninth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 19 games lost. Lucenec will meet higher ranked Inter Bratislava (#5) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Handlova will play against the league's leader Spisski Rytieri in Nova Ves and hope to secure a win.
