Very important is a road loss of second ranked Feytiat (11-6) against sixth ranked Champagne (9-8) on Saturday night. Visiting Feytiat was crushed by Champagne in Reims 83-57. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Feytiat. It was a great shooting night for Champagne especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. American guard Jill Townsend (180, college: Gonzaga) stepped up and scored 24 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Estonian power forward Maaja Bratka (190-1992, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Champagne's coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Amali Montout responded with 13 points and 8 rebounds and forward Emily Prugnieres (184-1997) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Champagne moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Feytiat dropped to the third position with six games lost. Champagne will play against bottom-ranked CFBB (#12) in Paris in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Feytiat will play at home against Calais (#11) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
