The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Peli-Karhut (18-4) in Kotka on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Tampereen Pyrinto (13-10) 84-73. The game was mostly controlled by Tampereen Pyrinto. Peli-Karhut managed to win second period 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Peli-Karhut 43-31 including 30 on the defensive glass. American guard Reili Richardson (180-1998, college: Arizona St.) had a double-double by scoring 26 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and New Zealand guard Tera Reed (183-1998, college: USC) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) during the contest. The best for the losing side was U.S. Virgin Islands-American swingman Natalie Day (182-1990, college: Portland) with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international forward Lotta Vehka-Aho (170-2000, college: FAU) scored 17 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tampereen Pyrinto moved-up to third place, which they share with Honka. Defending champion Peli-Karhut still keeps top position with four games lost. Tampereen Pyrinto is looking forward to face Forssan Alku (#5) at home in the next round. Peli-Karhut will play against Tapiolan Honka (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
