Regular Season Round 24: KR - Armann 86-79

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Reykjavik: KR (#4) and Armann (#6). KR (12-9) won against visiting Armann (9-11) 86-79. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-79. Strangely Armann outrebounded KR 52-39 including a 23-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for American guard Violet Morrow (176-1997, college: EWU, agency: Interperformances) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds. Power forward Hulda Bergsteinsdottir (180-1999) contributed with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Morrow is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Schekinah Bimpa (180-1998, college: Limestone) replied with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 21 rebounds and guard Telma Bjarkadottir (170-2000) added 25 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Armann. KR maintains fourth position with 12-9 record. Armann at the other side keeps the sixth place with 11 games lost. KR are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Breidablik B (#9) in Kopavogur in the next round where they are favorite. Armann will play on the road against Hamar and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
