Regular Season Round 23: AZS UMCS II - GTK Gdynia 52-48

There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked AZS UMCS II (6-14) won against higher ranked GTK Gdynia (12-8) in Lublin 52-48 on Sunday. AZS UMCS II held GTK Gdynia to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 33.9 percent accuracy of the winners. AZS UMCS II forced 19 GTK Gdynia turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for guard Aleksandra Kuczynska (168-2002) who led the winners and scored 15 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals. Center Martyna Goszczynska (186-2004) accounted for 10 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Power forward Marta Marcinkowska (182-1998) came up with 15 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Justyna Rudzka (171-2000) added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively for GTK Gdynia in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. AZS UMCS II moved-up to eleventh place. Loser GTK Gdynia keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. AZS UMCS II will meet at home higher ranked Pol.Gdansk (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. GTK Gdynia will play against Olsztyn and will have a slim chance for a victory.
