There was no surprise in Reykjavik where 8th ranked IA (8-16) was defeated by sixth ranked Fjolnir (11-13) 78-67 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by Fjolnir. IA managed to win third quarter 22-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of Swedish forward Simon Fransis (201-1995, college: Webber) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 8 rebounds and Canadian power forward Lewis Diankulu (201-1995, college: Queens, NC) who added 15 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American power forward Jalen Dupree (205-1998, college: Tennessee St.) with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds and forward Anders Adersteg (197-1995) scored 7 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fjolnir maintains sixth position with 11-13 record. Loser IA keeps the eighth place with 16 games lost. Fjolnir will meet higher ranked Sindri (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. IA will play against Hrunamenn (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
