Regular Season Round 24: Hrunamenn - Alftanes 114-121

Leader Alftanes delivered the twenty first victory on Monday night. This time they beat 7th ranked Hrunamenn (9-15) 121-114 in Fludir. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Hrunamenn won fourth quarter 32-30. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Alftanes shot 62.7 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 19 long-distance shots on high 54.3 percentage. Alftanes looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of Hungarian-Serbian Srdjan Stojanovic (198-1991) who helped to win the game recording 36 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 5 assists and Eysteinn Aevarsson (196-1995) who added 22 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Ahmad Gilbert (200-1996, college: St.Thomas, FL) with 44 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals and American-Hungarian forward Sam Burt (201-1994, college: FPU) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds. Five Alftanes and four Hrunamenn players scored in double figures. Alftanes have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 21-3 record. Hrunamenn lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 15 games lost. Alftanes will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hrunamenn will play against IA (#8) in Akranes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
