There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Lucca (5-18) beat at home 10th ranked Moncalieri (7-16) 78-60. Lucca forced 24 Moncalieri turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Dutch forward Kourtney Treffers (187-1994, agency: LBM Management) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Maria Miccoli (183-1995) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Four Lucca players scored in double figures. American forward Kathryn Westbeld (190-1996, college: Notre Dame) answered with 9 points and 8 rebounds and Austrian forward Sarah Sagerer (189-1996, college: Stetson) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Moncalieri. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lucca maintains twelfth place with 5-18 record. Moncalieri at the other side keeps the tenth position with 16 games lost. Lucca will play against higher ranked Ragusa (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Moncalieri will play against Venezia and will have a slim chance for a victory.
