Regular Season Round 19: Tindastoll - Haukar 84-82

The most exciting game of round 19 in the Subway League took place in Sauoarkrokur. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Haukar (12-7) to fifth ranked Tindastoll (11-8) 84-82 on Thursday evening. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 84-82. Tindastoll looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for the former international point guard Sigtryggur Bjornsson (180-1993, college: St.Mary's) who led his team to a victory scoring 30 points. American Keyshawn Woods (192-1996, college: Ohio St.) helped adding 16 points and 4 assists. At the losing side Danish forward Daniel Mortensen (204-1994, college: Barry) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and the former international guard Hilmar Henningsson (195-2000) scored 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Haukar players scored in double figures. Tindastoll have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 11-8 record. Newly promoted Haukar dropped to the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Keflavik. Tindastoll are looking forward to face Thor Thorl (#7) in Thorlakshofn in the next round. Haukar will play at home against Stjarnan (#9) and is hoping to win this game.
