Regular Season Round 15: Tirana - Apolonia 81-79

The most exciting game of round 15 in the Superliga took place in Tirana. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Apolonia (5-10) to fourth ranked Tirana (7-7) 81-79 on Friday evening. Tirana looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for the former international center Endrit Hysenagolli (208-1988) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. Julian Hamati contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American guard Robert Whitfield (190-1997, college: UMKC) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and the other American import guard Curtis Jenkins (188, college: Molloy) added 8 points, 12 assists and 5 steals in the effort for Apolonia. Tirana have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Kamza. Apolonia lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. Tirana is looking forward to face league's leader Beselidhja in Lezhe in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Apolonia will play at home against Vllaznia (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
