Regular Season Round 19: Zagreb - Sibenik 79-44
Date: March 11, 2023
Rather expected game when 6th ranked Sibenik (7-12) was smashed on the road by third ranked Zagreb (16-3) 79-44. Zagreb dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Sibenik's 30. They outrebounded Sibenik 51-25 including a 37-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Zagreb players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Sibenik's players. It was a great evening for the former international forward Lea Miletic (184-1995) who led her team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 15 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists. Center Josipa Pavic (189-1999) helped adding 23 points and 11 rebounds. Four Zagreb players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Khiana Johnson (170-1998, college: Radford) responded with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international guard Petra Baban (175-2004) scored 13 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zagreb have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Tresnjevka. Sibenik at the other side keeps the sixth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Pozega. Zagreb will play against league's leader Ragusa in Dubrovnik in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sibenik will play at home against Medvescak (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
