There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Moron (8-14) defeated higher ranked Algeciras (12-10) in Morón de la Frontera 93-88 on Saturday. Moron made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Naturalized Bosnian Nedim Djedovic (205-1997, agency: BeoBasket) notched 25 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and Argentinian guard Sebastian Mignani (185-1990) supported him with 13 points and 8 assists. Five Moron players scored in double figures. Even 28 points (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) by Croatian forward Jere Vucica (206-1992, college: Miami, OH) did not help to save the game for Algeciras. Naturalized Gibraltar point guard Miguel Ortega (187-1991) added 22 points and 5 assists for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Moron maintains eleventh position with 8-14 record. Loser Algeciras keeps the fifth place with ten games lost. Moron will meet higher ranked Melilla (#10) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Algeciras will play against La Roda (#8) and hope to secure a win.
