There was an upset in Verona where higher ranked Broni (10-11) was defeated by tenth ranked Alpo (8-13) 69-53 on Saturday. Alpo forced 19 Broni turnovers. Guard Elisa Mancinelli (177-1993) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and center Serena Soglia (185-2000) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. Four Alpo players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Ilaria Bonvecchio (172-1994) with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and swingman Lucrezia Coser (177-1998) scored 6 points and 14 rebounds. Broni's coach Michael Magagnoli rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Alpo moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Ancona. Broni lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Treviso. Alpo will meet at home Vicenza (#13) in the next round. Broni will play against Bolzano BC (#11) and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the Serie A1 just one year after relegation.
