There was no surprise in Barcelona where 7th ranked Barca CBS (11-13) was defeated by second ranked Avenida (21-5) 68-50 on Saturday. Avenida forced 19 Barca CBS turnovers. The best player for the winners was international Maria Cazorla (179-1997, college: Oregon) who scored 9 points. The former international point guard Silvia Dominguez (166-1987) chipped in 5 points and 8 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Canadian center Ruth Davis (198-1994, college: Oregon St.) who recorded 6 points and 13 rebounds and American guard Jolene Anderson (173-1986, college: Wisconsin) added 14 points respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Avenida have an impressive 11-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 21-5 record behind leader Valencia. Newly promoted Barca CBS dropped to the ninth place with 13 games lost. Avenida will meet at home Araski (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Barca CBS will play against Cadi La Seu in Seu D'urgell and hope to secure a win.
