Regular Season Round 22: Granada - Gran Canaria 80-66

We should mention about the upset which took place in Granada, where higher ranked Gran Canaria (13-9) lost to fifteenth ranked Granada (7-15) in a road game 66-80 on Saturday. Granada looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American forward Luke Maye (203-1997, college: UNC) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American-Bosnian point guard Alex Renfroe (191-1986, college: Belmont, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 7 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists during the contest. Four Granada players scored in double figures. At the losing side American-Lithuanian John Shurna (204-1990, college: Northwestern) responded with 9 points and 17 rebounds and Senegalese center Khalifa Diop (215-2002) scored 16 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Granada moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Zaragoza. Loser Gran Canaria keeps the seventh position with nine games lost. Granada will meet higher ranked Valencia (#8) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Gran Canaria will play against Murcia and hope to secure a win.
