Regular Season Round 19: H.Jerusalem - H.Be'er Sheva 84-74
Date: March 11, 2023
Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Hapoel Jerusalem (12-6) won against at home 6th ranked Hapoel Beer Sheva (9-10) 84-74 on Saturday. Hapoel Jerusalem dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Hapoel Beer Sheva's 18. American players dominated also this game. It was an exceptional evening for center Zachary Hankins (211-1996, college: Xavier) who led the winners and scored 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Point guard Brandon Brown (183-1989, college: UMW) accounted for 9 points and 6 assists for the winning side. Guard Khalil Ahmad (191-1996, college: CS Fullerton, agency: Slash Sports) came up with 19 points and Greg Whittington (203-1993, college: Georgetown) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Hapoel Beer Sheva in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Hapoel Jerusalem. They maintain fourth place with 12-6 record. Loser Hapoel Beer Sheva keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. They share it with I.Ness Ziona. Hapoel Jerusalem will meet E.Kiryat Ata (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Hapoel Beer Sheva will play against Galil Elion (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
