We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 13th ranked Azkoitia (8-16) lost on the road to fourteenth ranked Melilla (8-16) 66-57 on Saturday. Melilla outrebounded Azkoitia 49-34 including 36 on the defensive glass. Point guard Laura Fernandez (169-1989) notched 20 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and Brazilian power forward Leticia Rodrigues (187-1995) supported her with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Even 18 points and 5 rebounds by Portuguese forward Josephine Filipe (177-1995) did not help to save the game for Azkoitia. Jone Azcue added 12 points for the guests. Azkoitia's coach Joseba Lizarralde rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Melilla moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with defeated Azkoitia. Melilla will meet league's second-placed Zamarat in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Azkoitia will play against Lima-Horta (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
