Regular Season Round 22: Girona - Valencia 75-79

Very expected game when 12th ranked Girona (8-14) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Valencia (12-10) 79-75 on Sunday. The former international Xabier Lopez-Arostegui (200-1997) scored 16 points to lead the charge for the winners and American-Armenian guard Chris Jones (188-1993, college: Angelo St.) chipped in 10 points and 5 assists during the contest. Four Valencia players scored in double figures. At the losing side American swingman Kameron Taylor (198-1994, college: Seton Hill) responded with 22 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and the former international forward Eric Vila (211-1998, college: UTEP) scored 9 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Valencia have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain eighth position with 12-10 record. Newly promoted Girona dropped to the thirteenth place with 14 games lost. Valencia will meet at home Granada (#15) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Girona will play against Bilbao and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
