The most exciting game of round 26 in the D1 took place in Akureyri. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of second-ranked Thor AK (17-6) to fourth ranked KR (14-9) 67-64 on Wednesday evening. Thor AK cut a 14-point halftime deficit to three at the end of the game. KR forced 21 Thor AK turnovers. The best player for the winners was American guard Violet Morrow (176-1997, college: EWU, agency: Interperformances) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds. Forward Fanney Ragnarsdottir (172-1996) chipped in 12 points and 6 assists. Morrow is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Maddie Sutton (180-1998, college: Tusculum) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and German forward Tuba Poyraz (184-2001) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. KR have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 14-9 record. Thor AK at the other side keeps the second place with six games lost. They share the position with Snaefell. KR are looking forward to face Tindastoll (#8) in Sauoarkrokur in the next round. Thor AK will play on the road against Breidablik B (#9) in Kopavogur and is hoping to win this game.
