Regular Season Round 20: Haukar - Stjarnan 99-86

There was no surprise in Hafnarfjordur where 9th ranked Stjarnan (8-12) was defeated by fourth ranked Haukar (13-7) 99-86 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Haukar. Stjarnan managed to win third quarter 31-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Haukar won last quarter 22-10. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Dee Davis (178-1993, college: Xavier) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 4 assists and the former international guard Hilmar Henningsson (195-2000) who added 19 points and 5 assists during the contest. Danish guard Adama Darboe (190-1986, agency: Slash Sports) responded with 25 points and 8 assists and Swedish William Gutenius (206-1992) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Haukar and four Stjarnan players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Haukar moved-up to third place, which they share with Keflavik. Loser Stjarnan dropped to the eighth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Breidablik. Haukar will meet Grindavik (#6) on the road in the next round. Stjarnan will play against Thor Thorl and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
