Second Stage Round 3: Chartres - Caen 71-79

The game between closely ranked teams ended with Caen's (3-0) road victory over C'Chartres (1-2) 79-71 on Friday. Caen looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Kenyan-American forward Joel Awich (201-1993, college: Cal Poly) who scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Yanik Blanc (188-1999) chipped in 22 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Icelandic forward Michael Craion (197-1989, college: ORU) who recorded 14 points and guard Ugo Doumbia (190-2003) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Caen will meet at home Union Rennes (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. C'Chartres will play against Orchesien BC in Orchies and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
