Regular Season Round 24: Angers - Evreux 83-84

A very close game took place in Angers between ALM Evreux and Etoile Angers. Sixteenth ranked ALM Evreux (9-15) got a very close victory on the road over higher ranked Etoile Angers (11-13). ALM Evreux managed to escape with a 1-point win 84-83 on Friday evening. The winners were led by DR Congolese swingman Shekinah Munanga (201-1997) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds and American forward Keith Wright (203-1989, college: Harvard) supported him with 21 points and 7 rebounds. Even 16 points and 5 rebounds by swingman Stephan Gauthier (192-1995) did not help to save the game for Etoile Angers. Swingman Shawn Tanner (197-2001) added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Etoile Angers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. ALM Evreux have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifteenth place. Etoile Angers lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Nantes and Orleans. ALM Evreux will meet at home higher ranked Lille Metropole (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Etoile Angers will play against ASA (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
